Vietnam visa exemption (often referred to as Vietnam visa waiver or Vietnam visa-free entry) allows foreign nationals to enter Vietnam and remain for a specified duration without undergoing any visa application process.
Key points:
- As officially stated, starting from March 2025, citizens from 26 countries will be able to visit Vietnam and stay for periods ranging from 14 to 45 days (based on their nationality) without needing a visa. The complete list of these countries is available below.
- These travelers simply need a valid passport with at least two blank pages to enter Vietnam.
- If they wish to extend their stay beyond the exemption period, they can apply for a Vietnam e-visa.

Important notes regarding Vietnam visa exemption
- The requirement for a 30-day gap between two visa-exempt entries has been abolished due to the new regulations on entry, exit, transit, and residence of foreigners in Vietnam, which came into effect on July 1, 2020.
- Holders of British National Overseas (BNO) passports do not qualify for visa exemption for Vietnam; thus, they must apply for a visa to enter Vietnam.
- The duration of the visa-free stay is calculated from the entry date.

APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) Holders from Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) member economies are allowed to stay within 60 days without visa.
Those who travel to Phu Quoc Island, Vietnam and stay there within 30 days are exempted from entry visa. In case of travelling to other provinces or staying there more than 30 days, they will be issued visas right on the spot.
